Documentary: When Food Kills

Posted in Fitness Discussions on the July 7, 2009

Food is a fundamental building branch and the foundation for many of life’s functions. It fuels us, supports us, and makes us grow. With all of these wonderful characteristics, why are so many people dying from food? And when I say die in this instance, I don’t mean a slow death from bad food choices manifesting itself into diabetes or heart disease. I mean kills people in a matter of moments or more accurately said, “minutes”. What I am referring to are food allergies. They affect around 12 million Americans, cause about 30,000 emergency room visits and kill up to 200 people a year. This is in the U.S. alone. This is an extremely important issue and a great documentary displaying this secret killer. Pop some popcorn on this one y’all, its a hearty hour long film, but it’s very educational. It may even help you save a life one day.

This is a question that I have always wanted to present to many of the growing advocates of the Cross-fit culture. I have seen this exercise done in almost all of their respective videos and seen it as a main stay part of Cross-fit routine. My question is, for it to be so prevalent, why is it always done wrong? Why is there even a name for an exercise done incorrectly? By no means do I mean to knock the Cross-fit lifestyle, but this being part of it definitely warrants an eye opening discussion. The doctor in this video, not only addresses what I speak of here, but also speaks to the possible injuries that could come with such a jerky motioned movement that is displayed doing this so called exercise. If this has been a question you have wanted answering, this video is taylor made just for you. Enjoy the education and please use proper form y’all.
