Pyramids Are More Than Just The 7 Wonders Of The World.

Posted in Chest Workouts on the October 12, 2007

Push-up programs are so common, they are done around the world, by every race of people and by every age group. From the Hindu push-up to the New York City Bop, this is probably the most frequently done exercise on the planet. However, just because something is so common, doesn’t make it easy. This video is a perfect example why this workout can challenge anyone of any fitness level. Pyramid push-ups are increasing sets followed by decreasing sets. This is one of the most difficult ways to do this exercise, and compound that with small increments of rest (if any), and you have a workout fit for a King, or better yet a Pharaoh. Enjoy.

Kimbo Slice Is A Street Fighting Legend, But Do You Know About His Brother?

Posted in Full Body, Chest Workouts on the October 11, 2007

Kimbo Slice is famous (probably more infamous) for his series of underground street fighting videos. The amazing thing is he is more of a household name than his brother Rhadi Ferguson, a 2004 Olympian and Judo Champion. He is also a proponent of bodyweight workouts, so you can imagine how delighted I was to find these once hidden gems. This video is a great example of a world class athlete utilizing his most valuable weight, his own. The exercises are also very interesting to, so enjoy giving these a try from this fitness expert.

Can You Get Your Muscles Up With Muscle Ups?

Posted in Back Workouts, Chest Workouts on the September 28, 2007

In my opinion, no. Muscle ups are a variation of pull-ups that involve the actual body going above the pull-up bar into a vertical pushup. Now with that very Webster like description, I should also tell everyone, I really don’t like this exercise. The reason I don’t is actually explained in this video. This exercise incorporates to much momentum. The better a person can throw their bodyweight, the better this will be performed. There are some core benefits to this workout, but the throwing and motion of this movement negates much of the direct muscle benefits. However, I will say this, this video is post worthy due to it goes in depth in explaining the momentum and how the exercise works. Add this to your workout if you like, I personally won’t, but others have stated to me that they love them Enjoy.

So You Think You Have a Good Park Workout?

Do you? Well not trying to beat a dead horse (hate that term by the way), Parkour has become a lifestyle and culture in other countries. To watch these young people do this style of acrobatic running is almost like watching art being made before your eyes. Like I also stated before, there is an entire section dedicated to this on the main Street Workout Site, so go check that out. In the meantime, you can get a feel for Parkour by just watching these extreme exercises in preparation for the actual sport. This workout will remind many of their childhood and things you used to do. Well trying them now is a whole different reality, trust me. Some of this workout is a bit advanced and I couldn’t recommend trying it on your own, but other aspects of the workout are achievable. If nothing, watch the videos for entertainment purposes, they are worth it.

You Think You Have Seen Every Pushup?

Posted in Chest Workouts on the September 19, 2007

One of the main things I have learned as being a fitness blogger and a web professional is that you can’t know it all. I have seen fitness forums where individuals have argued about the simplest things and have sworn that they know it all. This is a problem in itself. As a person, you are constantly learning. Every time I think I have seen every push-up known to man, a new one pops up. Some of these new exercises are sometimes useful, and other times a little less than useful. This push-up variation in this video seems to be pretty good. I tried it immediately and liked it and I thought I would pass it on to my viewers. Enjoy.
