Parking Lot Tabata Circuit, Are You Ready?

Posted in Full Body, Core Training on the April 18, 2010

Fitness for the upcoming summer is the buzz going around this time of year. How to get that beach body ready is the pivotal question asked by so many. There is no one definitive answer, but there are some elements that can get you going in the right direction. Tabata Protocols or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is one of those wondrous steps that can get you to those goals. It is a concept of Exercising as hard as possible for a work period to rest period at a 2 to 1 ratio. Tabata specifically does a 20 seconds all out and 10 second rest routine, repeating this 8 times. Even though this workout comes out to about a 10 minute workout, it will be nothing like you have ever done before if this is your introduction to this concept. Almost any exercises can be done with this philosophy in mind. I enjoy mixing body weight resistance with cardio exercises for a full body workout. This video below is a perfect example of a good Tabata Protocol. From the sprinting to the sledge hammer pounds, this routine will push anybody to the limit as you see it did the gentlemen in the video. Try this out if you are in need of a challenge and need to get that summer body going for the warm weather. Enjoy all.

What does it mean to be a Bar-barian?

Apparently it take a super polished well edited video as well as a distinct talent for calisthenics. Seriously, this video is awesome just on it’s presentation alone, not withstanding the amazing body weight exercises displayed here. Rick from the famous Bar-barians is in rare form in this feature video. He displays many of his acrobatic techniques along with a decent showing of raw strength. I’m also very appreciative of the way the video sequenced from winter to summer. This is a great video for the visuals as well as instruction for those ready for the advance class of body weight workouts.

I would also like to apologize to my many viewers that have waited patiently for my return. Once my last computer crashed to the point of no return, I just about gave up on the Street Workout concept. I am however returning with a entire new website completely redesigned hopefully much bigger and better. Expect to see this new site in the very near future, approximately a month or so. I am designing the site again from the ground up but I’m shooting for a more web 2.0 design for it this time around. Slicker and more modern looking with easier browsing. Again, thanks for your patience and look forward for the new site coming soon.

Jump Rope Without the Jumping!

Posted in Full Body, Fitness Discussions, Core Training on the November 10, 2009

It’s seems as if fitness guru’s all over the world have invented just about everything there is to be conceived when it comes to exercise. There are ab blasters, butt busters, chest boosters and back smashers. Do we really need any other innovations beyond what we already have? Well, yeah, why not? I think honestly, without preaching, many of the fitness machines that are forged today are useless, but modifications in old favorites can be a breath of fresh air in a proverbial land fill world. The variation here is a new method of the traditional jump rope. It can be done with a normal jump rope but can be elevated to a heavy rope and works more on strength than the usual cardio aspects. Although it is something new, it really isn’t. These are patterns that advanced jumpers use anyway, but the focus has been placed more on the different patterns rather than the actual jumping. This I have to say is actually pretty cool and I will be giving this a serious try. It also helps that it’s coming from David Weck, the actual inventor of the BOSU ball. Check out the video and see if it’s something worth giving a whirl, literally.

For Those Who Doubt That Women Can Do Bodyweight Workouts….

Posted in Full Body on the November 2, 2009

With the many cultures of fitness that are prominent today, sometimes here at Street Workout we have to remember to take it back to the essence of what Street Workout originally meant. This ideal of a full body workout without the need of a gym that can be done anywhere at any time is our goal we try to extend to the world. With that being said, sometimes this message fails to reach a specific population of our audience. Women! They tend to believe that this workout philosophy doesn’t work for the female anatomy. Of course that is completely wrong, but another incorrect believe is that the workouts are too hard for them to do. This too is amiss. Not only can women do bodyweight workouts, but this video is the perfect example of a woman that takes our doctrine and runs with it. She does some exercises that to me some time to work up to, so watch and learn ladies. You to can benefit from bodyweight exercises just like men. Enjoy the video y’all. P.S. The main Street Workout website is slill down due to my computer issues, so please be patient and understanding in my troubles. Thanks.

More Parkour For My Acrobatic Fans

Posted in Full Body on the September 21, 2009

I got so much positive feedback from the Street Workout main page for the previous Parkour video, I thought it smart to post up another. The most visually stunning thing about Parkour is that these gentlemen do such incredible things in their own space. The feat that’s accomplished is one of mastery of each individuals balance and movements. These small motions combined to form not only a new sport but a culture that has become a world wide phenomenon. This video features a team out of Mexico, which only further my point of international appeal. This video also captures the sheer love for the sport the gentlemen have that are amazing onlookers attempting to casually pass, but are immediately stuck by the free show being offered.
